Age: 57

Years doing Pilates: 7

Why did you start doing Pilates?

curiosity- heard about it in the media and was into fitness

How do you see it impacting your daily life?

it has taught me how important my core is. i believe a strong core is the secret to a strong body and keeping my body in alignment. it has helped my knee tremendously!

What inspires you on the mat?

how much stronger and more flexible i have become. i used to think lifting heavy weights as the way to build muscle. using my own body weight and holding plank pose has created muscles that are leaner and i feel stronger. weight workouts are still good, however i mix them up with my Pilates and have less strain and injury.

What inspires you off the mat?

God first. Then all of the ladies and guys that i do Pilates with!

3 words you live by:

  1. treat others better than you treat yourself
  2. search for some form of joy every day.
  3. look for some sort of physical challenge to push your body. “Age is just a number”
