Wellspring Holistic Center will hold an Open House and Art Sale  at our East Stroudsburg location, on December 1st from 4pm-8pm and December 2nd from 10am -3pm.

Our healing center will be filled with beautiful hand made crafts. Peruse our treatment rooms while sipping tea and savoring homemade, gluten free, sugar free treats. It promises to be your most relaxed shopping of this holiday season.

Today meet artist, Susan Bradford

1. Please give us three words to describe your creations?

Intricate.  Colorful.  Inspirational.  Soothing.  Oops, that’s four words.

2.. what can we look forward to you creating for this sale?

Three new basket series.  Seagrass baskets with beads.  Modeled on the Native American philosophy that “every bead is a prayer.”  Coiled baskets that are seagrass over wire.  I’ve been working on these for years, but wasn’t ready to show them.  Wire baskets.  Same thing.  These span several years of work, but I needed enough of them to make it look cohesive.

3. what about this particular art/craft makes you feel passionate and excited?

Even though I haven’t done a new mandala in over a year, I still connect with their messages, and feel connected when I look at them.  Hopefully others feel the same.  And I just love making baskets.  I can get lost for hours when I’m weaving.  I feel that it is so healing for me to do them and that lends them power and presence.  To me, they are little totems.

 4. when you are not making art, where are you most likely to be?

Spending time outside when the weather allows.  Working on the house.

5. do you have one quote or saying that you are living by these days?

I just read this quote in Art in America the other day.  Though I can’t say that I’m living by it, it struck me as inspirational and timely.  It is by an African American artist name of Leslie Hewitt.  She says, “Like many artists, I’m always working to find and continually refine a form of address, one that will aid in developing an idea from an immaterial status in my mind to a material existence as art.  The process often starts out incongruent and irrational, and then goes through stages of logic.  This imposed logic comes from my desire for structures that can help make sense of the chaotic nature of living.”

Holiday Open House Saturday and Sunday

It is time for Wellspring Holistic Center’s eighth annual Holiday Open House and Art Show on Saturday, December 5th and Sunday, December 6th, at 243 East Brown Street, in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. The hours on Saturday are from 4 PM to 8 PM, and on Sunday from 11 AM to 3 PM. Saturday night will also feature a wine and cheese reception. Event is FREE and open to everyone!

This year we are giving back to our community with Gratitude and Love! Come and enjoy FREE mini- sessions with one of the many talented Wellspring practitioners. There will also be hourly giveaways, and homemade organic, gluten free treats.

As always, you will be able to shop for your holiday gifts in the serene and peaceful atmosphere of this beautiful holistic center. The art and the crafts have been created by some of the Pocono’s finest artisans. This year we welcome back co-directors of the center, Anita Bondi and Louise Bowman, with hand-made jewelry, soap, salves, tinctures, and organic candles. Returning to the show will be Susan Bradford with her mandalas, baskets, and crystal bracelets and John Lenz with his hand-hooked rugs. New this year will be pottery by Jill Cantor and photo cards by Rae. The mini-treatments that are being offered include many healing modalities, such as, massage, reflexology, Reiki, myofascial release, EFT, Gestalt therapy and more.

Today, meet Susan Bradford.

1. Please give us three words to describe your creations?

Three words to describe my work is hard because it covers a lot of territory.  So here are three general words:  passionate, joyful, colorful.
2.. what can we expect to find at your “booth?”

You will find mandala art: giclee prints (including two new images – Joy and Creativity), coasters (including a new set), platters (including the two new images), and cards.  Baskets made of all sizes made of materials including seagrass, fiber rush, waxed linen, sweet grass, raffia and more.  Paper vessels, and paper ornaments.  Beaded bracelets of three varieties.  It sounds a bit crazy and overwhelming even to me, but I love making all of it!
3. what about this art/craft makes you feel passionate and excited?

Everything about creating anything and everything excites me.  Maybe that’s why I can’t seem to stick to just one thing.
4. when you are not making art, where can we expect you to be?

When not making art, you will find me in the garden.  Luckily out here (I live on Orcas Island, WA when not in the Poconos), that is for about nine months a year.
5. do you have 3-5 things on your bucket list that you could share with us?

Travel!  Keeping my energy and health as long as possible.  Being a better person.  Doing more Reiki on Orcas.
