Happiness

” I am more and more convinced that our happiness or unhappiness depends far more on the way we meet the events of life, than on the nature of those events themselves.”

~ Baron Alexander von Humboldt

Snow!  Snow! and more Snow!  This has been an incredible winter in terms of snow accumulation.  I don’t remember the last time I have seen piles this high.  While I love the snow, I really hate the disruption to my schedule.  I am a creature of habit and when my days get all mixed up with snow and delays and cancellations, it can make me feel just a little bit frustrated.  This winter has given me an opportunity to stop and re-examine my attitude.  I can complain all I want but it is not going to change the fact that it is winter for another month – at least.  I decided it was time to start looking at each of these inconveniences in a new light.  It was time to find the good in each day and focus on that instead.  So far so good.  Today was another one of those disruptive snow days and instead of complaining about it, I focused on the fact that I was able to get some work accomplished and see some clients.  The small shift has made me feel lighter and happier.  I am going to agree with the Baron and start meeting each event in my life with more positivity.
